About CheapestSSD.com

CheapestSSD.com is an independent price comparison tool that helps consumers find the best SSD value by sorting drives by price per terabyte — the single most useful metric when shopping for storage. We track NVMe Gen 3/4/5, SATA, and external SSDs available on Amazon US.

The site was created in early 2026 in response to rapidly rising SSD prices driven by AI-related NAND demand. As prices shift weekly, we saw a need for a simple, no-nonsense tool that answers one question: what's the cheapest SSD I can buy right now, per terabyte?

Our Methodology

We take a data-driven approach to SSD price tracking. Here's how it works:

1 Data Collection

We monitor SSD listings on Amazon US across all major brands. Prices are checked and updated daily. We track the current listing price — not historical lows or promotional prices that are no longer available.

2 Price Per TB Calculation

For each drive, we calculate price ÷ capacity in terabytes. A $119.99 drive with 2TB capacity = $60.00/TB. This is the simplest and most objective way to compare SSD value across different capacities and interfaces.

3 Specification Verification

Read/write speeds, NAND type (TLC/QLC), warranty length, interface generation, and form factor are sourced from official manufacturer specification sheets — not from Amazon listings, which can be inaccurate.

4 Used Drive Tracking

We separately track used/renewed drives and clearly label them. Used drives don't carry original warranties and may have reduced endurance, but can offer significant savings — sometimes 40-50% below new pricing.

Independence & Transparency

About the Team

CheapestSSD is built and maintained by a small team of storage hardware enthusiasts and web developers. We've been following the SSD market since the early days of consumer SSDs — from the first Intel X25-M in 2008 through the NAND oversupply of 2023 and the AI-driven shortage of 2025-2026.

We built CheapestSSD because we were frustrated by how hard it was to quickly answer "what's the cheapest SSD right now?" during a period of rapidly changing prices. Most review sites focus on performance rankings. Most deal sites focus on discounts from MSRP. Neither answers the simple $/TB question that budget-conscious buyers actually need.
